Hey, I’m Shahnika,

Helping you build a stronger bond with your dog through fun, reward-based training—because great behavior starts with connection.

Our Training Methodology

At the heart of our training is one simple belief: a well-behaved dog starts with a strong relationship. That’s why we use reward-based, positive reinforcement techniques to help you and your dog learn together in a way that’s fun, effective, and rooted in trust.

We focus on:

  • Clear communication between you and your dog

  • Motivating through rewards like treats, praise, and play

  • Understanding your dog’s unique personality and needs

  • Building lasting habits through consistency and kindness

No harsh corrections. No intimidation. Just proven methods that nurture good behavior and deepen your bond. Whether you’re working on basic manners or more advanced skills, our goal is to help you feel confident, connected, and in sync with your dog—every step of the way.

What Clients are Saying

"Mochi loves Shahnika sooo much. She is very caring and professional. It’s hard to trust people with your fur baby but she treats Mochi like her own. I am so happy we found her. Highly recommend."

FAQ

  • I’m a Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) with over six years of hands-on experience working with dogs of all breeds, ages, and behavior levels. From young puppies just learning the ropes to adult dogs with fear, anxiety, or aggression issues—I’ve helped a wide range of dogs (and their humans!) build stronger, more trusting relationships.I’m also Fear Free Certified, which means I focus on minimizing fear, stress, and anxiety for dogs during training. I always strive to make sessions a safe, positive experience for your dog.

I believe strongly in continuing education and staying current with the latest in animal behavior science. I attend at least three professional conferences or workshops each year to learn from some of the best in the positive reinforcement community. This field is constantly evolving, and I’m committed to bringing the most up-to-date, ethical, and effective techniques to the dogs and families I work with.

I currently volunteer with Pets for Vets, a program that matches veterans with companion animals. It’s a cause I care deeply about, and it’s incredibly rewarding to help train and place dogs that can bring comfort, companionship, and healing to those who need it most.

  • My approach is all about positive reinforcement—rewarding good behavior, building trust, and creating clear communication. I don’t use force, fear, or punishment. I want training to be something your dog enjoys, not something they’re afraid of.

  • Pretty much anything! I can help with:

    • Basic obedience

    • Leash walking and recall

    • Puppy training and socialization

    • Crate training

    • Reactivity (to dogs, people, etc.)

    • Anxiety, fear, and resource guarding

    • Aggression or bite history

If you’re not sure what category your dog fits into, just reach out and we can talk it through.

  • I currently offer:

    • Private sessions – One-on-one, personalized training where we focus on your goals.

    • Day training – I do the heavy lifting during the day while you’re at work, then show you how to keep it going.

    • Stay & Train – A more immersive option where your dog stays with me and gets consistent training throughout the day.

  • Every dog is different, and so are their goals. Some dogs pick things up quickly, others take more time—especially with behavioral issues. That said, most clients start to notice changes within the first few sessions if they’re consistent and follow through at home.

  • For most sessions, bring:

    • Your dog (obviously 😄)

    • A regular leash and well-fitting collar or harness

    • Plenty of small, high-value treats (something your dog really loves)

    • Any questions or concerns you have!

For stay & train or day training, I’ll send you a list of what to pack.

  • Private Training / Day Training / Dog Walking / Drop-Ins: 48 hours' notice required. Less than 48 hours = 50% fee.

Pet Sitting / Stay & Train: 1 week notice required. Less than 1 week = 50% fee.

Refunds: Only issued if the Service Provider cannot complete agreed-upon services. Refunds are not guaranteed but may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  • Vaccinations are required for all dogs enrolled in Day Training and Stay & Train programs. The required vaccines are:

    • DHPPL

    • Bordetella

    • Rabies

For other services (such as dog walks or private sessions), we strongly recommend that dogs be up to date on vaccinations appropriate for their age. Puppies younger than 14 weeks should have at least started their vaccine series.

For the safety of young puppies who are still building immunity, we only recommend private training sessions until they are further along in their vaccination schedule.
